Many famous people have lived in Brooklyn Heights, including Norman Mailer (who lived on Columbia Heights),
Truman Capote, Arthur Miller, Norman Rosten, Rod Steiger and Claire Bloom, Oliver Smith, and all in
one house for a while: W. H. Auden, Carson McCullers, Jane and Paul Bowles, Benjamin Britten, and
Gypsy Rose Lee; but probably still the most famous are Walt Whitman and Henry Ward Beecher.
