Christina I just luv it when a brainwash victim sees the light:-) you made for a great victim & I really enjoyed brainwashing you.........Well I think it was me brainwashing you but now I'm not so sure as I've now come to the conclusion that your first comment was right:-) hehe.
Thanks Christina:-)

All right, all right. How's this:

The title draws the juxtaposition between the newness of the tap and the oldness of the pipe. It creates the tension that we all look for in a successful photo! If the tap weren't so new, the pipe wouldn't look so dilapidated! Great job!

I knew if I waited long enough a true connoisseur of fine art would leave a comment:-) Thanks Jano:-)

Oh Christina my little silly billy:-) It's not the tap that's dilapidated it's the rusty pipe fitting it's screwed into, the tap is brand new & working perfectly. New Tap is just the meaningless title of the shot as the focal point (only just) for me is the rusty pipe fitting. I believe Picys should be interpreted with the eyes & not by reading a title that's why I normally never pay any attention to wot the title ses under our shots. Of course Paul is right that this 40 year old pipe fitting may not technically be called dilapidated & has a few more years life left in it but it's all his fault shots like this are appearing here after he convinced Brent that dried mud can be called dilapidated:-)
Wot you mean Paul a full days work for a Queenslander? It took two blokes to put this tap in:-)
Paul 16-Nov-2006 06:43
I'm with Christina on this, i reckon you could wipe off this 'delapidation' with a wet rag. Mind you, the colour here is quite good with the blue of the supposed delapidation and that touch of red to the surface rust on the thread beneath and the gold of the new tap. I bet that was full days work for a Queenslander eh?
Squared C15-Nov-2006 22:18
Yeah, maybe. Maybe it's just the scale of the thing, or the fact that this tap probably still works whereas the sign doesn't. But of course you can't tell those things in a photo.
Sorry. Hope I'm not picking on you!

I like this colorful dialidated tap. I see where the old rust and nice shiney tap - like the DOF :)

I would have thought this pipe fitting was in the same condition as your yardage sign Christina:-)hehe Thanks Christina:-) Thanks RK:-) yes the 55mm 200mm lens has very good bokeh, mind you this was almost a macro.
Squared C15-Nov-2006 05:15
I'm also wondering where the dilapidation is. It doesn't really say "dilapidated" to me. sorry Rod...

Nice one Rod. Nice bokeh for a f8 aperture setting. - RK

I like this Rod. Nice background to set off the new tap and old pipe. CJ
Brent 14-Nov-2006 16:12
Indeed the colors and bokeh look great here. I'd say that pipe is pretty dilapidated too. Goodun' Mate!
ctfchallenge14-Nov-2006 15:51
Nice saturated colors here, Rod, and I like the bokeh as well.

No I didn't put the tap on I was out on the foot path cutting their concrete so I could replace their silly leaking water meter. There's no way I would attempt to turn a new tap into that DILAPIDATED fitting:-)
Paul 14-Nov-2006 10:16
Eh? Did you put the tap on? You should save this for the "Leaky" challenge.

Where's the dilapidation? A bit of corrosion on the joint hardly counts.
