07112006 solemnity

I've done something Bad today.

As you know, Dad and Mum have thoughtfully provided a comfortable sofa in the living room for me to sit on in order to snooze or watch telly. Sometimes Dad's allowed to sit there too. But I thought it was MY sofa.

Well, it seems I misunderstood, and actually it's Dad's and Mum's sofa.

Today, Dad had some Important Visitors. They all sat down in the living room and I came trotting in from the garden to say hello. But there were not enough chairs to go around, and the Visitors were sitting on MY sofa.

So what I did was this: I jumped onto the arm of the sofa, climbed from there onto the back of the sofa behind the Visitors' heads, then slid head-first down the back of the sofa between them to sort of insinuate myself into the middle. I thought it was a very clever idea. Room enough for all, I thought. But Dad thought differently and was very cross.

I think the clincher was the fact that I still had "drippy chops" after pausing for a drink from my bowl on the way in. OK, so the Visitors might have got slightly wet trousers. Thinking about it, they might have got slightly muddy too. But is that any reason to banish me into the garden???

(dad: what can I say? It's not altogether Pooch's fault - I blame the parents! ;-) )

I see your logic, Pooch. I think you were right. Mum and Dad should just get another sofa for those visitors...

Cute shot.. Pooch, the competition for the couch in my house is not among java and humans, but between Java, Mollie, and Gabi - usually Java wins..

LOL at Zak. Well, Pooch, now you know and have to remember your "company manners" next time.

Poor Pooch, I'm sure you thought it was a clever idea at the time!

Poor little Pooch - penance in the garden - oh dear! Lovely little story - I'd love
to see Zak attempt the same routine :>)

LOL - I love this pic! I think Pooch had a reason for confusion - we have similar issues in our household. Except our problem is that Chase might give up her couch, but the hair she left behind tends to give all OUR visitors hairy butts! Black pants don't go over well at our place :) She also gets a little grumpy if I try to share with her - we humans are so pushy!

lol, I must try that trick over the festive period when there's not enough seats! :D

At least your chops were dry fo this portrait !!

I agree with tiger, those visitors were pushy taking over the sofa that way !!

Sounds perfectly appropriate for Pooch to gain a spot on HIS sofa;-)
Nice shot and story of the clever Pooch.

Yep! You gotta watch out for those "drippy chops"!

I blame it on the visitors...they should have made themselves comfy on the floor.
