Dick and I saw this group of three deer several hundred yards up a slight rise in a grassy field. Dick moved around beneath them to one side and I walked to the other. When I had good sun on them I turned more directly towards them and moved in slowly with a monopod. The fawn was running and jumping like a child at play. I began taking photos and moving closer after each few shots. Just before this image was taken, the fawn made a large circle and ran back to its mother. The doe began playing and running with the fawn and both headed directly at me unaware I was standing in an open field with them. After this shot was taken and one other, the fawn finally noticed me, pulled up, gave a moment’s study and both of them took off. What a kick that was to see them playing with so much abandon.
