Completed in 1904, although opened for the legislative session of 1901. The Rhode Island State Capitol is constructed of white Georgia marble, and boasts the second largest free-standing marble dome in the world (after St. Peter's Basilica). It stood in for the U.S. Capitol in the movie Amistad.
