Pygmy Nuthatch

Post Falls Idaho

A couple of these little birds were industriously digging out a rotted tree in a county park near where we live in Idaho. I used an 8' step ladder to position myself closer to the holes they kept popping in and out of and stood for hours watching and photographing them. I got some strange looks from passersby, but as it turns out I even made some new friends.
