Larry Hollingsworth, UNHCR

Bosnia

I'm no fan of the UN, which is clear to anybody who's spent some time reading my gallery. But there were UN people in the former Yugoslavia who were doing their best to alleviate the plight of the average person. This man was a shining example of goodness. He was the UNHCR's man on the spot and did much to ensure that aid was delivered to people who needed it. That was a tough job because of the ineptitude of the UN higher ups and the criminality of the Serbs and some of the local bosses of the other groups. This is one UN official who really made a difference. Also, this image showcases the incredible quality of Canon's 80-200 f2.8L zoom lens..."the magic drainpipe."

We knew Larry many years ago in Dubai . We were involved with the local choir & one of our shows was Old Time Musical where Larry acted as MOC, and a very fine job he did too. So good that he could easily have earned a living. Happy days.

I had the pleasure of working with Larry Hollingsworth in the former Yugoslavia, I have witnessed him crawling on all fours to feel for command wires so the British convoy team could enter a village to assist the locals. He is a tremendous person, I would love to meet him again, Bob Tomkins. UK tankers ..

Hello! I met Larry yesterday and will be working with him in the next two months. Are you still looking to get your dad in touch with him? I'm sure he'll be more than happy with this news!

I was returning from Heathrow Airport on Friday, 11th March 2011, and had the great privilege of sitting opposite Larry H on the Tube!! Apparently he has just returned from a fact finding tour of Libya.Instantly recognizable, constantly inspiring, always clear-thinking - we need more people like LH!
