A model of the eccentric Mole Antonelliana by Alessandro Antonelli (1798-1888), Turin's equivalent to the Eiffel Tower in Paris:
an unmissably tall landmark that serves no purpose except to act as a signature for the city as a whole.
The 167 m (550 ft) Mole ("massive structure") for a time became the world's tallest structure. Today it is an exhibition hall
with a viewing platform halfway up, reached by a lift, which affords excellent views over the city and to the Alps.
