Icy Strait Point is a Native-run island settlement that is now adding tourism to its traditional fishing and lumbering economy. It is off the normal pathway of the cruise ships. Select cruises include it. I was disappointed that the hiking trails were so limited, but the surroundings were great. It must be a struggle to decide how to invite tourism without having it overwhelm your community and a hard-won balance with nature.
