Our first port stop was Ketchikan, AK, at about the same latitude I lived at in Northern Germany. It rains here about 330 days per year, but was bright and sunny for our visit. Most buildings within a 5 minute walk of the docks reminded my of a Disney-inspired turist trap, but the real town was only another couple of minutes walk away. Sadly, not many cruise tourists seemed to go that far. Ketchikan has absolutely gorgeous surroundings.
