This hospital was founded and staffed by nuns, The Daughters of Charity, thus the name. Its architecture was French, built in the 1800's. It was later demolished and replaced with a newer, hospital similar in architecture to the Louisiana State Capitol in Baton Rouge. The newer structure flooded following Katrina and was not reopened. There are plans to demolish it.
I was born in this beautiful hospital and am so happy I have a photo of it.
