Laura Milholland

Oakland Zoo, Oakland, CA

Well, for October first I thought I should get us in the mood for Halloween!
Here is my AcroBat - actually a kind of bat called a Flying Fox. They are huge!
The wing span can reach between 4-6 feet. They only eat fruit.

Ooooh, bats! Your pictures are all awesome - those are huge bats, aren't they? You've shown the textures so well. Sometimes I watch the fruit bats in the Night Exhibit at the Zoo but no cameras are allowed. I am envious. ;-)

Bea, although you have Flying Foxes, this particular breed is called a Malayan Flying Fox - from Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Burma.

Good shot Laura. They're a long way from home, which is Australia.

AWESOME.... That's quite the pose! I read a story called Zipping, Zooming, Zapping Bats with my 2nd grade reading class... I think these are from Australia... and the largest bats in the world! CC

Cool! We need to train one of those to teach the cat upstairs some manners. 8-)Hard to tell which end is up, but a clear shot with tons of detail.
