Traves Hicks was my grandfather, my dad's dad. He was a medic in WWI and died in 1938 so I never knew him. I've seen his name spelled "Travis" and "Traves" so I don't know which one is correct. He was the oldest of 15 children. Many of his family including his parents are buried in the cemetary on the big hill in Makanda, Illinois.
