Mousehold Heath is north east of the centre of Norwich and from its higher points can provide wonderful views of the City of Norwich.
In Tudor times, Mousehold Heath was six miles broad and three miles deep.
In the early 1900s, Mousehold Heath was open countryside with virtually no trees.
The area was kept open by grazing animals and by local people collecting bedding and feed for livestock and fuel for the winter.
As the way people lived changed, these traditions disappeared. The heath is now much smaller and now mostly covered by woodland although some areas of heath remain.
