I used the formula for making stone with the Filter>Render>Clouds option. I included color for mineral content in the stone and merged layers. I duplicated the layer and placed a new layer between them. Blinded the bottom layer. Used Select>Color Range and made my selection with the eyedropper. Clicked Layer>New>Layer via cut. The cut layer was deleted and another variation of the process was done on the new layer underneath. On the top layer I applied a soft drop shadow to effect the textured ridge where detail had been cut. Merged visible layers.
