This is one of a number of birds seen and photographed in the backyard this afternoon. A light rain was falling which made it ideal for emphasizing colors so spent a few hours conducting a "Backyard Safari" ... Northern Flickers, Stellar's Jays, a covey of California Quail, male and female Downy Woodpeckers, Sparrows, Robins, Nuthatches, Chickadees and a deer out front across the street this morning ... I feel quite blessed.
