September 17, 2006 - Injured Fawn

A warm and sunny day today with temps around 80. I went out walking this evening and saw this little fellow in the grass. I slipped up on him and was amazed that he didn't run. I thought maybe he hadn't seen me. When I got really close, I could see that he had been hit by an automobile and had an injured hind leg. I took a couple of shots of him, and he got up and limped into the brush. I imagine he will end up coyote bait.

Coyotes have to eat, too. We'll hope that it's elsewhere. This is a great portrait. Vote.

Great shot, but sad story.
His eyes, nose, and ears combine to pull me into the shot. Very nicely done.

Great eye focus, Rich! You captured this beautiful animal well. I sure hope you're wrong about his future!

What a beautiful shot Rich. Poor little thing....I hate to see them injured, but it sure happens a lot. Nice detail and focus.

aaahhhh.... this is a lovely shot Rich, what a beautiful animal. I hope the poor thing makes a miraculous recovery and does not end up as coyote bait.
