The birds in the small image are starlings, aptly named Sturnus vulgaris. However, the birds in the larger image look to be proportioned differently, more like crows. The birds in the flock look to have longer wings. Starling wings tend to be a bit stubbier than crows and can rocket into flight rather quickly. Having said that, this size flock is very common for starlings. Crows rarely are in groups this size, and arrange a bit differently in flight.
