'American Bomb'

The Lao civilian death count was astronomical. US B52 bombers could drop a hundred bombs at a time, and 580,000 bombing missions were conducted. The US dropped a planeload of bombs on Laos every eight minutes, day and night, for nine years from 1964 to 1973. That’s nearly two million tonnes of bombs – over half a tonne of bombs for every man, woman and child living in Laos.

Around a third of the population of Laos was killed, injured or made homeless by the air war – approximately a million people.

This is said to be a bomb crater, NVA or VC were apparently using this area and hence the bombing, the nicest temple was destroyed in one such bombing.

in my son, central vietnam is reported to be an american bomb crater, s'why i took the photo in part, the mountain behind it is called 'cat's tooth' mountain, though you can't see why from this angle, too much glare generally trying to get a shot of it.

my son(me sonn) was very very hot, the most impressive towers here are said to have been destroyed by american bombs, eventually Nixon told them to spare what remained.

it was a bit of a journey by car alone to this place, but not far from Hoi An City if one is there I guess.

the mountains of viet nam are forbidding places to locals as well as foreigners, and extend way in laos, cambodia, thailand, full of seldom explored places.
