NGC7293 - The Helix Nebula (Reprocessed 8/27/06)

Skunk Hollow Observatory

NGC 7293 - The Helix Nebula. This nebula only rises about 24 degrees above my horizon. So, it is a difficult object to image from my location. Shot using a Meade LX200 10" @ f/7.15 using a SBIG ST-2000XM with SBIG AO7 unit. 120 minutes (24 x 5 minutes) luminance at 1x1 binned. RGB shot on 10/01/05 and 10 minutes at 2x2 binned for each channel. Image scale is .85 arcseconds per pixel. Acquired using CCDOps. Aligned and combined in CCDSoft 5. Dark and light frames applied. DDP and LRGB combined applied in AstroArt 2.0. Adjusted in Adobe Photoshop using Astronomy Tools by Noel Carboni. Guided by the SBIG AO7. Transparency was good.
