Looking more to the left than the prior photo you can see Gallison Lake and Lewis Creek flowing from it. The trail heads toward the lake from Vogelsang Pass, but according to the map descends long before reaching it to the Creek. The trail crosses the creek and follows it on the other side down to Merced Lake.

Straight across on the right I think is Florence Lake and Mt Florence (12561) behind that. Now that I am homeI noticed that Mt Lyell, and Donahue Pass and Mountain is just behind that peak. I crossed Donahue Pass a few weeks before and descended Lyell Canyon two weeks ago. Today I will turn around and follow an almost parrell course down Rafferty Creek.
