Sphaerophoria scripta.

Male Sphaerophoria scripta because of the long abdomen.
Another stormy day it has rained all day, so had to resort to last weeks piks. I Found this hoverfly looking insect but not really sure what he is, his tail is much longer than a normal hoverfly? Thats why my DOF is short as I was focusing on his tail.

Interesting one Cazi - it's not your "normal" hoverfly, but then that's not a "normal" dandelion either!

LOL@Johnny. Apparently, there are about 250 different species of hoverfly in Britain alone. Maybe the longer tail means more eggs or more venom lol.
