Nice, love the composition. To me I don't see joyful exuberence, I see more of a pleasant memory. The ghost like qualities and distortions in the face, with the tones of the image give you the sense that this is an image of someone how has passed, but the smile makes you feel like they are happy.
I would be curious what you were trying to convey with the treatment of the image as you have done. Chris
