These killer whale photos are "Resident Orcas". There are three classes of Orcas, Resident, Transient and Off-Shore. The Resident Orcas usually travel the waters from British Columbia to Oregon, USA (Washington State). The difference in diet between the Resident and Transient Orcas, is Resident's will usually only feed on fish, with a strong preference for Salmon. Transient Orcas will feed primarily on marine mammals. Transients observed in waters of B.C. and Washington State have been observed feeding on seals, sea lions, dolphins, porpoises, and other species of whales.
