I thought this a most ingenious device. It is tethered to the bank so the current drives its ‘paddle wheel’ on which sit two large basket-nets. Salmon can’t see clearly in the silty water and swim into the angled nets to be lifted out and slid down a shute into an underwater holding tank. The devices are so efficient their use is regulated by law.
