Good natural light, strong composition, and setting. Every part of the scene creates the atmosphere. I like the earthtones and the blown-out light coming through the window...to me, this works far more successfully than a 'proper' attempt to avoid blowing out the highlights.

Another great shot from Old World Wisconsin. That's it, I'm going (when it cools off a little). You sure have good lighting on the man. I thought you might have used a weak or defused flash but not according to the exif info. Beautifully captured as usual Katherine! Gee, I see lots of old stuff in this image! Perfect for the challenge!
