Old Faithful*
by Justin Miller

Lighthouse Point, Florida

This is the Hillsboro Inlet lighthouse which gives the city of Lighthouse Point, Florida its name. It was built in Detroit in 1906 and put into service here in 1907. In 1992, the bearings failed and a temporary beacon was put in its place, but a renovation project put the light back in service 5 years ago, and it's been operating continuously ever since. For post-processing, I used Sheri's Sketch plug-in for PSP8.

Oops. That's me below. I was still logged in for the KM minichallenge, and I guess I left it that way from yesterday!

Thank you Katherine. I do think I'll keep the sketch version in here...I just think it has more 'flavor' of old. Appreciate the comments...and for looking in the demo folder to help me too! If I can't come up with one more subject this weekend, I'll probably add the other version in here too.

I love this one - beautiful fine details in the trees and lighthouse! The sketch effect is great for this image.

Thank you. There just aren't very many proudly post-processed shots entered in challenges...but I really do think this shot is absolutely perfect for the sketch treatment, and it gives it more aging and emotion than just the standard picture. I'll post the unprocessed photo in the thread on STF, just so people can be assured I really did take the photo!

Justin, this is simply beautiful; I really like the post processing you did here. It really looks nice and I like the basic B&W but with just that touch of color. Your caption has added even more interest to your entry. Very nice work!
