060713 fresh kill

A shrew that Snickers caught. Cats don't usually eat these small rodents though, because they taste awfull. The watershrew (not in the picture) is actually poisonous, one of the few poisonous mammals. It even uses it's poison to kill prey - frogs and fish.

I should have remembered to write the explanation under the image, when I posted it! It's a shrew :) And yes, I think they sometimes play dead to be left alone. But I'm sorry to say that it was probably dead. It is the function of small rodents to be cat food! :) Or in this case, just game.
