Becoming the rock

Winter Camp Wash Amphitheater (Arches National Park) view map

While exploring the amphitheater between Delicate Arch (partially visible at upper right) and Delicate Arch Viewpoint I took a break for lunch. That involved a psychic union with the sandstone of the amphitheater.

By gently pressing the back of my head against this "channeling boulder," I was able to hear the deep hum emitted by the rock. After maintaining this posture for 7.1 hours my vibrations matched those of the boulder and I became the rock. This transformation took me to a higher plane, but my fear of heights ruined it, so I quickly descended to solid ground and assumed my physical form once again.

Psychic traveling is not one of my strengths. My alternate plan for achieving nirvana was to walk to the bouldery slope below the cliff in the background.

While I united with the rock, Joe Tipod also stood motionless, but for a much more mundane reason: to hold my camera steady.

Though I lean, I am not lean.
The first condition was a solid feeling; the second was my gut feeling.

All I know is that it isn't that "yellow cake" that supposedly went from Nigeria to Iraq (or wherever it is supposed to have gone).

When my friend Alice was in Wonderland, she used to eat a little bit of cake to grow big, and a different cake to grow small. What kind of cake are you eating Dave ?

"Limestone Cowboy?---I think not. Maybe a role next to Sylvester Stallone: "Rocky XXXII: The Amphitheater."

I think your getting stoned here Dave. You were trying to be a Limestone Cowboy.
