Great shot, Linda! The color of the eyes and their size are amazing, aren't they! The eyes make me think it is the Eagle Owl also. Here is a shot of an Eagle Owl I took at SF Zoo for comparison. They are a little different, but I still think that's what it is too.http://www.pbase.com/milholland_l/image/62094163

Those eyes are great! Owls are such good subjects if you can find them... Sometimes, if we remember, we'll take a photo of the identifying sign at the zoo, or the road name or whatever. Makes it easy to go back later and remember. Angela figured it could be a Eurasion Eagle Owl, based on the list from The Point Defiance Zoo's website.

Wow Linda! Riveting. Maybe this owl hypnotizes it's victims. BTW, is that you reflected in it's eyes?? ;-)

What a wonderful picture of a wise bird. The eyes are awesome and I love the way the owl stands out against the background. Tim and I visited Pt Defiance Zoo last year and were very impressed with it - it's so well laid-out and pretty. ~ Ang
