This two-masted pilot schooner, owned by the Virginia Maritime Heritage Foundation, is a 122-foot replica of a 1917 schooner of the same name. She is the last of a breed of sailing pilot boats, built for speed like many of its predecessors to race out to meet vessels that were inbound for local ports. She serves as the official floating ambassador for the Commonwealth of Virginia and provides a unique platform for youth education about Virginia’s maritime heritage, the Chesapeake Bay and it tributaries.
