I was only in Tikrit for a couple weeks. Our portion of the camp was usually
named after an advisor who had been killed. In Baqubah I lived at Camp Dawes,
named after Oklahoma policeman Mike Dawes. Mike was killed when a suicide bomber
dressed as an Iraqi policeman, entered a Baqubah police station and detonated himself,
killing Mike, a US soldier and four Iraqi policemen.
