Football Stadium in Bolivia

After exploring the mysterious rock formations of Valle de La Luna, near La Paz in Bolivia, Andy stumbled upon this football stadium set in spectacular surroundings. He wrote in his diary:

“Surrounded by a myriad of snowy and craggy peaks and blessed with an open aspect, it must be a really imposing and intimidating site in which to play a football match… the young guns of Manchester United would surely struggle with the thin air and sparse sporting trappings of such a place. The ladies hats were out in abundance as were the ice cream sellers and the whole scene was both strange and familiar… people are people wherever they happen to live and, with the exception of the unusual dress and the abundance of Bolivian flags, we could almost have been in a village in 1950’s Britain. It was easy to spot the gossips, the drunks and the mischievous kids milling around and, to top it all, we were treated to a march-past, complete with village band where, it has to be said, comparisons founder… they were appalling and would have had any bandmaster from northern England spitting with rage. No matter, it was all great fun although I did feel that the women in particular were more than a little camera-shy and I got a few hostile looks when I took a photograph of them in the stadium.”
