This tower was originally built for scenery to be raised up and lowered from onto the stage when it was built as a live performance venue in 1927. During demolition it has come about that the building was probably built in 1924 and not 1927 as earlier thought.
Just under the roof sign there was a small building aproximately 5 ft wide and about 4 ft tall tht ran just past the length of the sign, it was a wooden and steal structure with a tarpaper and shingled roof. Talking to a person who had worked in the building over 10 years before he said that it was just an empty little building on the roof that was under the sign with a door on it to get to the structure that held the sign up, nothing much was stored up there other than maybe a bucket of tar to patch any small leaks that would occur in the towers roof. There also may have been a power access board so that they could turn off the electricity to the sign so that they could maintain the neon on the sign.
