June 21: The First Day of Summer

Rancho Bernardo, CA

Summer is a great time to read, and I love to read history (that is good since I am a historian ;- ).

By far the most interesting book I have read this year is Crile’s non-fiction “Charlie Wilson’s War,” an account of the CIA’s war against the Russians in Afghanistan back in the 1980’s. It reads like the best spy novel ever.

You make history sound almost fun. I suppose it is. But now I am puzzling over this: "a" historian? "an" historian? I just don't know. Or maybe both are acceptable?

I have a whole new understanding of a home where the buffalo roam.
Thanks for the heads up on the book. Not an historian, but a history buff.

And the buffalo roams at will. Do you have a hammock? That is a very nice tree, too.

I think you need to bring Bill in out of the sun...he is wearing his winter coat afterall. :>)

Recently, everytime I have a good cup of coffee in my hand I look at your pad pic and wind up needing paper towels...:?...:)

Under a shade tree and a slight breeze, I'm afraid I would be dozing off if I had a book in my hand.

Where does one go to get one of those there miniature buffalos? I would like one for my back yard. -Ben
