1798 S-155
Rev. of 1796
PCGS VF 25 (CAC)

Year: 1798
Type: Draped Bust Large Cent
Variety: Reverse of 1796 -- Sheldon 155; State IV.
Grade: PCGS VF 25
Mintage: 1,841,745

A very nice example of an 18th century large cent, and a coin I have always wanted to own.

This coin was purchased from Shawn Yancey. Thank you Shawn! He described it as:

"1798 S-155. Rarity-3. Reverse of 1796. F-12. Sharpness of VF-20, many scattered contact points.
Pleasing medium brown with some subtle undertones of rosy tan, glossy and largely smooth.
Well centered and evenly struck, nicely detailed for this variety.
Many tiny scattered contact points are noted on both sides, more so on the obverse than reverse,
with none being an individual distraction. An appealing example of the Reverse of 1796, certainly
worthy of consideration."

wow, very cool, dont think I ever saw a coin that old. You must have been lucky to find this one and I take it paid a pretty penny? :) or a few pennies
