F4U Corsair

My wife's co-worker got married and her (the co-worker) family arranged for a fly-by of some warbirds. I wasn't quick enough for the P-51D, but I caught the F4U Corsair. However, it has been pointed out privately that the shot is good but it's soft... this is true. My copy of my Sigma exhibits a softness at 300mm when shot beyond about 10-12ft, but it's very sharp inside that distance. Otherwise, it's crisp and a good walk-around lens for say, inside the house or at a party where a 70-200mm IS USM lens is just too big...

Convert the photo to B&W and you'll never be able to tell it from a shot from 1945. Soft isn't always a bad thing; digital is sometimes TOO crisp.

Great shot of a truly great warbird. The shot is a bit soft but better soft than not at all! Would love to get some stick time in a Corsair myself...
