Listen carefully, I shall say this only once.

Sheerness and international. view map

JVC is speaking to Professor Morrey who is in Spain.
JVC is standing in front of a live web cam,
Professor Morrey captures the picture and sends it to JVC in London.
The picture is home long before JVC.
I miss the days of pencil, paper and penny black stamps.

Dave, you are totally right, please disregard my earlier cynical comments.

No system is perfect. Every good thing has a bad side effect. My broadband connection goes down once in a while too. Yet without that service, the internet, and the World-Wide Web, you and I would never have discovered each other and shared witty comments, and your special interaction with Professor Morrey could not have happened. I agree that there are many idiots and dimwits in service positions, and they should be banished to Elba. I stand by my earlier statement but will amend it by saying that I miss the service/competency ethic of the olden days.

Amazing technology ? serving mankind ?
Today I placed an order over the phone, the young lady could not tell me the total cost of the order, because the computer would not tell her. When I suggested she add up the cost herself, she laughed, and said I will call you back later and tell you the total. (she did not ring back)
Today I tried to make an appointment to see the doctor, sorry, she said, ring back later the computer is down. When I suggested she write a time and date on a piece of paper, she hung up on me.
Today, I could not contact the internet for 6 hours, broadband link down (again).
Today was a good day, bad days are a nightmare.
