I wanted to see the sea, Sergey wanted to see all.
We took a train to Oostende, and it was like taking a trip into a melancholy past.
Oostende is not as charming as the other Belgian towns we have visited, it has the melancholy worn out look of an elderly woman, who cannot get old too graciously, but keeps the traces of her past beauty under layers of ugly make up.
It was a very fashionable seaside resort during “La Belle Epoque”.
They say also Queen Victoria came for England to enjoy the flat sandy beaches.
We decided to post nearly all the pictures of this little chapter in sepia or black and white, as if they were old postcards.
Maybe it’s really what they are.
