A textbook example of expression, Kal. You even use the rule of thirds, for whatever it may be worth. The placement of the child one third of the frame in from the right implies imbalance and challenge, yet the kid remains incongruously all wrapped up in himself, unconcerned about anything around him. The boy is small, the world around big, but he does not seem to notice. He is self-contained. The farm in the background is softly focused, adding context but very much secondary to the child. The black and white abstraction adds universality to the image. It is no longer a family picture, but rather a statement about ignored vulnerability.
