PROVENCAL FRITILLARY - MELLICTA DEJONE - LA MELITEE DES LINAIRES

Heath Fritillary has a wingspan of 34 to 46 mm.
This species is widespread throughout most of parts of Europe, and into Asia.
It is found in warm sheltered habitats and well-drained and sunny areas.
Female lays eggs in large clumps (up to 60 to 100), close to the ground on the underside of the leaves, near to the foodplants (cow-wheat or foxglove).
They feed on nectar from a variety of plants, such as brambles and buttercups.
