Tom worked on a machined cap for the 2.2 distributor, but gave up; determining that the way he would prefer to do it would be to cast a cap...in plastic or in aluminum.

That left me with plan B: a cap that did not look like a distributor cap.

I used some 2.5in aluminized exhaust pipe; sized it to fit over the distributor housing; notched it to clear the electrical connector; and painted it with high temp exhaust paint. A satin finish.

When fully seated, the bottom edge should align with the direction arrow on the housing. It is a very snug fit. The way to remove it is to gently tap on the bottom of the tubing.

Installation should not be done until the distributor is installed and timed correctly.
