Just to be "nasty" I am going to say that I prefer it in b&w :))
But well I actually do. The colour version is easier to fall in love with, because the colours are so beautiful, but in this one one gets down to the basics and the shadows work a lot better in favour of the image when it's in b&w. In the colour one we can even say how pretty the colour of the robes are, thus losing objectiveness when it comes to evaluating the emotions. In this one we go straight to the man's faces and movement and to me that's the most important in the photo ;)
Every time I see a picture like this, I find myself imagining it might might look like in color, with an emphasis on the richly colored robes, instead of on the dark hallway. So the question arises: might it not have been better to give this image to us in color in the first place --which no doubt would be a feast for the eye -- or should you give it to us as you have given it to us here, in black and white, and make our imaginations go into overdrive? It would be interesting to hear your own thoughts on this, as well as those of your other viewers.
