This is the El Rey. It was the first movie theater in Chico.
It is 100 years old.
It is now being turned into office space. At first it was the
Elks Lodge with business offices. It also used to be a vaudeville theater.
Some people in Chico are heart broken that this theater is
now going to be office space. I think it is kind of sad to, but
there is no way it could make money as a single screen movie theater
in a down town area that doesn't offer much parking.
