Within 24 hours of arriving in London I had seen my first snake......a Grass Snake just near this small sunny pond, an apparently ideal location with several piles of compost in the surrounding bracken. No doubt the pond provided grass snakes with frogs, newts and perhaps fish to feed on. The compost heaps provide important areas where they can lay their eggs.
