Almost nine months ago this school sat in six feet of water for three weeks. Classes resumed in January. Of the 100 who began class on August 15, 87 returned following Katrina and graduated tonight.
It was the 279th commencement at Ursuline in New Orleans and the girls wore the traditional white dresses and carried one dozen red roses. Each girl is introduced individually and makes a curtsy--lots of nervousness going on while waiting in the wings.
I climbed a palm tree to get this shot.
