Infrared Garden

Blyth, Northumberland

First image in IR that has proved anywhere near succesful although I am far from happy with it.

Being on the coast it's always windy which plays havoc when long exposures are needed (the R72 filter is so dark it means exposures of several seconds), but for once it is sunny and not the usual overcast skies which kill the IR process.

Now I've learned a little it's time to go play and enjoy this new (to me) technique. It's taken me a year to get this far with this one image! So don't hold your breath for a boat-load of additions. :-)

Nikon D50
Nikon D50 fitted with Hoya R72 filter.

Custom white balance set into camera.

Colour swaps in photoshop using the channel mixer and adjustments to hue and saturation and levels.

Fred Miranda Intellisharpen to slightly sharpen image.

F22 at 10 seconds, ISO 200.
