Messier 51 - The Whirlpool Galaxy. Shot using a Meade LX200 10" f/6.3 telescope at approx. f/4.7 using a SBIG ST-2000XM with a color filter wheel (CFW8a). 65 minutes (13 x 5) luminance at 2x2 binned. 5 minutes for each RGB channel. RGB frames were from 3/8/05 and were shot at f/6.3. Acquired using CCDOps. Aligned and combined in CCDSoft 5. Dark and light frames applied. Adjusted histogram in Adobe Photoshop 6.0. DDP applied in AstroArt 2.0. Self guided by the SBIG ST-2000XM imager. Used a mask in Adobe Photoshop to bring the color level up some.
