We had a very nice visit and discussion with the couple. This area is situated on a mountain ridge within sight of Jishou. On this ridge is a Buddhist temple. Pine trees encompass the ridge and this area. At one time a pine forest covered the mountains but over the millenia the forests were cut, stripped, and replaced with other growth, relegating them to steep slopes, remote areas and mountain ridges.
