4/23/06 - Color Me Pink

You've come a long way, baby. This PAD is from someone who disdains heavy Photoshopping, preferring the challenge of getting it right in the camera and doing creative effects (like yesterday's Tulip in the Mist) in the camera. A club competition with an "enhanced" (digital darkroom) category can cause one to rethink their do's and don't's.
f/11, .077 sec, +1/3EV, 40mm, tripod & remote
Experimenting to get an "enhanced print" (digital darkroom) competition print for May's Close-up theme competition. Used masks to isolate the one blossom for selective color, and the same mask for some exagerated sharpening on the B&W portion and to turn the background black. Wanted something dramatic with "punch". This was the first; will try this again with some different images.
Does it "sing"?

Lovely!! I just love the one pink flower, against the black and whites! Perfection!

Ed, I think you did wonderfully well. I love the black background and the seemingly floating flowers. You should be proud of this!
